25, 2008: If
you are going to Cozumel in May, I need those deposits now. Payment due
in
full 45
days out, that
means April 1st or earlier, May 13 - 20, 2008.
We have DVD's of the Shipwreck Graveyard available. The DVD has the
best video of extreme diving that I
have ever seen. It also shows the top technical diver(s) in action like
you have never seen before. The DVD is free with any contribution of
$25.00 or more to Ocean Sands Scuba, Wreck Research Program. Yes, I have
discovered a way for the business person to write off their donation
completely, make your contribution and I will give you the details, we
need an immediate $10,000.00 for upgrades to the ROV, (scanning sonar).
This will allow the video taping of the wrecks at slightly less than
400' without the great risk of life that I am now incurring, by pushing
the limits of the diving envelope.
Kamila's Korner: "Tankgiving" in the Truk Lagoon - Nov 19 to 28,
2008. We will be diving off the SS Thorfinn Live-Aboard, which is the
largest live-aboard (170' long) in the Micronesia. This will be an incredible
trip. For those Technical Divers they have 100% O2. Wrecks range from
6' to 200' and most are in the 80' and above, so those who are beginners
would love this trip too. Each small diving boat takes up to 6 divers
with a guide, so the dive sites will be un crowded. Great for wide-angle
photographers, less divers means better visibility and better pictures.
You can dive as much as you want.
Have a super Diving Day, Chuck

17, 2008: April is
coming quickly, last year we spent huge dollars on our wreck research program
an and was frustrated by the weather and we did have to do the show biz
thing. That took up a lot of our time. However, two more months and we
will be
out diving the new wreck north of Holland that we found side scanning coming
back from the Coast Guard Festival last year. It will be a summer to remember
if we can get good weather. We have 4 new wreck sites to dive this summer,
(1) North of Holland, (2) a 30' wreck off of Saugatuck, (3) & (4) North
of South Haven. As soon as the ice breaks up this spring we will be back
out diving the new found wrecks. Can we keep these sites 100% secret. Technology
gets better every day. To keep a wreck site secret you would have to confiscate
every cell phone on the boat and strip search everyone on the boat along
with all of their equipment. It would make the airline search seem juvenile.
Even the most trusted have been found to have hidden small GPS's on the
boat, in their dive bags to steal co-ordinates. Who knows when a closely
guarded secret will be claimed by the unscrupulous.
We will be adding new technology again this year equivalent to the price
of a small house, but necessary. New cameras, new sonar for the ROV, new
faster more compact computers for the data acquisition, oh my, no wonder
we can't afford to eat. The dive boat will be in the water before you know
it. All that equipment has to be prepped, so lets get busy.
Have a super diving day, Chuck

17, 2008: Next Sunday Ice Dive Gull Lake. It is cold, ice
should be forming. It is time for an ice dive at our 2nd favorite lake,
Gull Lake Prairieville Township Park. I need you to sign up ASAP. FOr those
of you that have not had the ice diving class, I will schedule one before
the Ice Dive on Sunday. Observers and helpers are always welcome. It is
quite a show. It is excellent practice for those of you who are aspiring
wreck & cave divers. It is truly a thing of beauty to be under the
ice in the winter. It is also the very definition of serenity. Clear, crisp,
cool water enveloping you, it is wondrous.
Make sure your gear is ready for the experience. Of course after the dive
we will be stopping at the Eagle's Nest (Aries London Bar and Grill) for
a quick bite.
Have a super diving day, Chuck
