2008 was our 20 Year
Anniversary
The store started in 1984, however we were located on Ottawa Beach Road. Then
in 1988 we moved to Columbia Ave. The store that was purchased was an old Hardware
Store. After operating many years using public pools, the old warehouse was then
converted to the pool area. We realized that without our own pool we felt that
we could not adequately train divers to scuba dive and didn't consider ourselves
a real dive store without a pool. We built the pool area ourselves by digging
a huge hole with shovels, poured the cement, and painted the bottom. Many community
leaders contributed their time, resources, and labor. It took long hours and
late nights (sometimes until 3 AM) to finish the job. We built the pool to blow
away the whole diving market in the Western Michigan area, and that is just what
we did. Business grew and we were training more people than ever. In 1998, we
built a new addition to the back of the store with a new classroom and a new
rental equipment storage area. This added another 1500 sq.ft. of space for more
equipment.
